How to choose an e-cigarette?

At first, buying an e-cigarette might seem easy given the range of models on the market. However, it is not so because there are a number of characteristics to be taken into account which are not visible.

First of all, do you smoke regular cigarettes?

I smoke regular cigarettes!

Further questions to smokers of regular cigarettes:

  • How many packs per week do you smoke?
  • Have you ever used the e-cigarette?

Depending on the answers, we have divided the consumers into six groups. The following is a list of recommendations for each group.

1. You smoke at least one pack per day or at least 2-3 packs per week and have no previous experience with e-cigarettes.

To make your first experience with e-cigarettes smoother we recommend that you start with the basic kit: Joyetech eGo AIO/ AIO Box/ Aspire PockeX

Why this kit? This is the most reliable one, requires little maintenance, and is very easy to use. Having two batteries/e-cigarettes is crucial if you intend to replace regular cigarettes with e-cigarettes and feel that one e-cigarette is not enough. As this kit has an integrated battery, we recommend purchasing a second e-cigarette. Based on our own experience we know that it is most unpleasant when all batteries are empty but you feel the urge to smoke. This situation is the most common breaking point for returning to regular smokes. To avoid this situation, you need two e-cigarettes so that you always have one as a back-up.

Pros:

  • Easy to use
  • Small dimensions
  • Purer taste and more vapour as compared to Sigma and BVC coil
  • Can be used with batteries ranging from 1500-2100mAh
  • The atomizer has a longer useful life (2-3 bottles of liquid) as compared to Sigma atomizer

Cons:

  • Uses a bit more liquid as compared to Sigma and BVC coil
  • The coil consumes more batter capacity than a 1.6-Ohm BVC or Sigma coil

The second option would be a set which includes a BVC coil. However, this atomizer type requires more cleaning than the eGo Sigma to ensure perfect user experience:Aspire K1and Sigma battery 1100mAh.

Pros:

  • Somewhat cheaper
  • Uses less e-liquid
  • The useful life of the BVC coil (2-3 bottles of liquid) is longer as compared to the eGo Sigma atomizer
  • Lower battery capacity as compared to AIO and PockeX

Cons:

  • Requires more cleaning than the eGo Sigma atomizer
  • Consumes more battery current than eGo Sigma

2. You smoke at least one pack per day and have tried the basic e-cigarettes.

We recommend starting with the Joyetech EVIC, EGRIP, CUBOID or the Aspire X30 Rover set. The mentioned e-cigarettes can be used with different coils and feature multiple adjustment options. Typically, the battery capacity of e-cigarettes is over 2000mAh which means that they are good for at least two days of average vaping. Pure tastes and large puffs (depending on coil type and settings used). If the e-cigarette has replaceable battery elements, you can buy further elements at low cost and hence avoid situations where the battery becomes flat unexpectedly.

Currently available options:

  • Joyetech eVic AIO e-cigarette
  • Joyetech eGrip II Light e-cigarette
  • Aspire X30 Rover e-cigarette
  • Joyetech eVic Basic with CUBIS Pro Mini
  • Joyetech Cuboid Mini e-cigarette

Having two batteries / battery elements is crucial if you intend to replace regular cigarettes with e-cigarettes. Based on our own experience we know that it is most unpleasant when all batteries are empty but you feel the urge to smoke. This situation is the most common breaking point for returning to regular smokes. To avoid this situation, you need two batteries so that you always have one back-up battery.

Pros:

  • Bigger puffs and better taste
  • Air flow adjustment (adjustment of vapour amount)
  • Can be used with coils of various resistance
  • Some models have replaceable battery elements (when battery life is exhausted, you only need to replace the element instead of buying a new e-cigarette)
  • The useful life of coils (3-4 bottles of liquid) is longer as compared to the eGo Sigma atomizer / regular BVC coils
  • Battery capacity is higher compared to eGo Sigma/ AIO/ PockeX/ iCare

Cons:

  • Requires more cleaning than the eGo Sigma atomizer
  • Consumes more battery current
  • Larger dimensions as compared to eGo Sigma and eGo Sigma/ AIO/ PockeX/ iCare

3. You are experienced e-cigarette user and you are looking for a more intense vaping experience.

Often, long-term vapers look for an even more powerful puff. To satisfy this need, the manufacturers have developed the new Sub-Ohm technology. Or they want a battery that allows multiple adjustments.
Sub-Ohm e-cigarettes are real vapour cannons suitable for advanced users/vapers.

Our suggestion within the Nicorex range is the Joyetech Cubis PRO atomizer and the following batteries:

  • SMOK G-Priv Touch 220 battery
  • Joyetech Cuboid battery
  • SMOK Alien battery 220W
  • Wismec Reuleaux RX200 battery
  • Eleaf iPower 80W battery 5000mAh
  • Aspire NX75 battery

Pros:

  • Massive vapour puffs
  • Wide range of coils
  • Batteries with large capacity

Cons:

  • Consumes a lot of battery current
  • Consumers more liquid (the smaller the resistance, the more liquid is consumed - however, on the plus side, the larger the puff)
  • You need to be careful with nicotine concentration (recommended nicotine concentration in the liquid: 0-3mg/ml)

I do not smoke regular cigarettes.

We'd like to know why you are looking to vape if you're not a smoker.

If the idea is to vape occasionally with friends, we recommend choosing a cheaper model which is suitable for beginners, does not require much knowledge and is easy to use.

Our current suggestion: eGo Sigma Light with an 1100mAh battery plus an extra battery, or alternatively, eLeaf iCare

Pros:

  • Easy to use
  • Small dimensions
  • iCare has a pure taste and has no firing button which makes it easy to use
  • Good price

Cons:

  • With eGo Sigma, the taste is not as pure as with a BVC coil
  • The useful life of eGo Sigma atomizer (1-2 bottles of liquid) is shorter than the life span of the BVC type
  • Battery life is two times shorter than for other models

* The Sigma Light set contains one battery; for consistent use we recommend the eGo Sigma set with two batteries. While one battery is being charged you can use the second one.
